Question and Answers

Is there a replacement part for the counter top anchors? 58716192401 Kenmore Dishwasher

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you're having with the countertop mounting brackets. I know how frustrating that is.

I do not see that the mounting brackets are being offered as replacement parts. I see the screws being offered, but no brackets. You may need to go to a local home improvement store and purchase some sheet metal strips and fabricate new countertop mounts. That would be the best option I can recommend. You could also consider side mounting the dishwasher as well.

I hope this helps and thanks for using We appreciate your business.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

It would be very unusual for plastic cups to show signs of white residue and not the glasses or glass/ceramic cups. It could just be the plastic is deteriorating due to the heat or water condition if it's not soap residue. The information I added below is for glassware because we do not normally hear of white residue on plastic cups. Be sure to place the plastic cups on the upper rack and not the lower one.

You model dishwasher does not fill with much water to begin with and if it's not getting enough water due to lack of water supply or if the water inlet valve is becoming restricted, it could be part of the problem. Also, only one spray arm will operate at time. It will always start washing from the lower spray arm and when the wash cycle pauses for second or two in the middle of wash cycle, it then starts spraying out of the upper spray arm. Since it only sprays out of one spray arm at time, this is why it does not need a lot water. With this said, it is important that it's getting enough water so the pump is not starving for water or cavitating.

The film could be a hard water film or it could a soap residue. Check and make sure the dishwasher is getting enough water. I do not know what type of plastic cups you have but plastic does not dry well because it does not absorb heat from the water in order to dry well.

To identify the cause of the cloudiness:

Soak the glassware in undiluted white vinegar for approximately 5 minutes, rinse and dry. If the film is removed, it is due to hard water filming. If it is not removed, the glassware is etched.

Hard Water Filming and Water Spotting Causes:

  1. Not using enough dishwasher detergent for the degree of water hardness. Hard water minerals coat the surface of the glassware, creating a film.
  • The amount of detergent should be increased according to the degree of water hardness (one teaspoon per grain).
  • For water hardness over 12 grains, add additional detergent (1 teaspoon for each grain over 12) at the beginning of the main wash portion of the cycle. (Open the door, add detergent to bottom of the tub, close the door). The dishwasher will continue through the cycle.
  • When water has over 15 gpg of hardness, it is very difficult to achieve acceptable dishwashing results. Extremely hard water can make it virtually impossible to achieve acceptable results and a mechanical water softener is recommended.
  • Packaged water softeners such as Calgon* or Spring Rain* are not recommended for use in an automatic dishwasher as they create excessive suds.
  1. Water temperature is too low.
  • The water heater should be set at a higher setting or the water heating options on the dishwasher should be routinely used.
  • Run the hot water before starting the dishwasher in order to clear the line of cold water, especially when using a shorter wash cycle.
  1. Not using a rinse aid such as Jet Dry* or Cascade Rinse Aid*.
  • A rinse aid improves the sheeting action of the water, allowing it to slide off of the dishes more easily. The result is less water spotting.

  1. Water spotting not due to hard water.

When water temperature is too high, flash drying may result. This is a situation where drying takes place before the water droplets can sheet off.

  • Lower the water temperature setting slightly.

To remove hard water filming, try one of the following:

  • Wash glassware in the dishwasher using Glass Magic* according to package directions. If filming is severe, repeated washing may be required.
  • Soak items in undiluted vinegar.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your dishwasher. When a LED light is flashing on the control panel, this indicates that a button on the keypad is stuck or shorted, or the control board is not longer responding. You will need to replace on of these parts. So in order to determine which one is the problem, you will need to test the pins on the control board for the keypad. If the board is putting out continuity, but the keypad is not, then the keypad is the issues, etc. If you don't feel comfortable do this, because you will need to take apart the control, I would recommend that you schedule service. Just click on this link to do so: Sears Home Services . I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

It's not flashing constantly only when i push the start button. Its a Kenmore Elite, model 66516293400. do you have any idea what it costs to replace this board. Sometimes it's less expensive to replace the dishwasher than pay for parts?
