Question and Answers

Q:

Keeps tripping reset button on the plug. 58075151500 Kenmore Room a/c

A:

If it's tripping when the compressor cycles on, the compressor is likely defective or locked up. The amperage draw of the compressor will need to measured at start up and when running if the compressor will start. If the compressor amp draw is 65.5 amps, this indicates the compressor is locked and it will need to be replaced by sevice technician.

If the compressor is short cycling, meaning it starts too soon after it cycles off, this too can cause high amperage and cause the reset to trip. Low voltage supply can also cause the reset to trip. I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your a/c.

Q:

I have a Kenmore ac model 58075151500. I cleaned it and now the fan makes a grinding noise. Why?

A:

When you put the unit back together, you got the base in a bind and the evaporator blower is probably rubbing on the fire wall.

Take the unit out of the window and remove the case. Set the base on a level surface and rotate the fan by hand to be sure nothing is rubbing. Adjust the frame if necessary.
