Question and Answers

Q:

Why doesn't my Dehumidifier not work - Kenmore Model # 580-54351500

A:

Thank you for your question on the dehumidifier.

I am sorry you are having a problem with your dehumidifier not running properly.

If you remove the bucket and hold down the bucket switch with you finger does the compressor come on and stay on.

If that is the case then I would look at the bucket lever that pushes on the switch. It may have gotten weak and when the compressor starts and gives some vibration it shuts off and flashes like the bucket is full.

You may have to replace the bucket if this is the case.

If you push the button with your finger and hold it for at least a minute and the compressor starts and stops there could be a problem with the compressor power circuit.

It could also be a bad bucket switch that cannot hold the power to the compressor after it starts.

Please let me know what you find so far and we can continue to troubleshoot with that information.

Q:

I have a Kenmore Dehumidifier Model # 58054351500 has no power. I can the fuse still same result. Any suggestions?

A:

Make sure that the electrical outlet that you are plugging the dehumidifier into works properly. Plug a small lamp or appliance into the outlet to make sure that it is okay.

If the outlet is okay, you can unplug the dehumidifier and check the outlet cord wire connection. The image below shows how to access the control box in this model. If you find no problems with the outlet cord, you will likely need to replace the control board (part 6871A10142A). You can order this part from the Sears PartsDirect website. Replacing this part without further diagnosis is a risk but it may fix your dehumidifier. A technician would normally perform some live voltage checks to verify that the control board is getting power. I do not recommend that you conduct this type of live voltage check yourself. If you want to have a service technician perform additional testing on this dehumidifier before replacing parts, you can carry the unit into a Sears Repair Center.
