Question and Answers

Q:

if you have the need for the bottom exhaust configuration, can it located where needed or is it a set location?

A:

I don't see a bottom vent kit for the common Whirlpool 5700 electric dryers. The installation guide shows the bottom vent configuration that is illustrated in the image below. If you reply with the full model number of your Whirlpool dryer, we will research the issue further using that specific model number.

Thanks for the additional information. I looked at that model (WED5700X) and I see that it does have a vent kit listed. The 4-way vent kit (part number 279818) would allow you to vent that dryer through the bottom panel. I provided a link for the Sears PartsDirect website below this reply. I don't have a display for that exact model, but I have a similar Whirlpool dryer that has a bottom vent knockout plug. That dryer is shown in the first image below. The bottom vent knock-out plug for your dryer may be in a slightly different location. You can probably look at the display in the store to see where the bottom vent knockout plug is on that particular model. I provided the instructions for the 4-way vent kit in the images below. (You can skip over the parts that cover side venting.) This should give you an idea of the process for venting that dryer through the bottom. The last image shows a procedure that would be needed to open the cabinet on that particular model. I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

Here is the final image. Be sure that the dryer is UNPLUGGED when accessing internal components.
