Q:

Why won't my Kenmore refrigerator stay cool unless I turn the setting up to 5 out of 6?

A:

The refrigerator may be okay. Here are some things to check that could increase the cooling efficiency of the unit:

  • Make sure that you are not blocking the air vents in the refrigerator. The first image below shows an excerpt from your owner's manual that gives you details concerning this issue.
  • Check the gasket seal on the refrigerator door. Look for cracks or leaks. A simple test for the door gasket is to close the door on a dollar bill and try to pull the dollar bill out. You should feel some resistance when pulling the bill out. If it pulls out with no resistance, then you could have an air leak through the gasket. Try this test in various locations around the refrigerator and freezer doors.
  • The second image below describes the process for cleaning the front of the condenser. I recommend conducting this cleaning. This may increase cooling efficiency in the refrigerator if this area was dusty and dirty.
  • Make sure that the cover on the bottom rear outside panel of the refrigerator is in place (Key 21 in the third image below). If this cover is not properly in place, the unit will not cool properly.
If the performance of the refrigerator does not improve after following these tips, you may have a component failure or other problem with the refrigerator. Look for ice or frost build-up on the back wall of the freezer. This would indicate an automatic defrost system problem that could inhibit cooling in the refrigerator.

Q:

Why is my front-loading washer flashing all the lights 5 or 6 times per wash load?

A:

The flashing lights are most likely indicating a failure code. Without knowing the model number of your washer I will assume that you do not have a display window by the symptom. Some models do not have a display window to show the failure codes, they use the status lights on the touch pad/LED.

Resubmit your question with the model number and details of which combination of status lights are flashing for model specific information.

A:

The model number is normally found on the side of the opening to the washer tub on the front panel. Open the door to view that area.

Q:

What does the code of 6 slow flashes and 5 fast flashes on a Philips 50PL9200d37 mean?

A:

The TV is trying to tell you that you have an error "65" in the set. The error is not very helpful for me. I looked it up as a GDE init communication failure and I do not know what circuit in particular it is referring to. The error refers to a communication error so I suspect that an IC is not seeing another. This could be a number of reasons but what I do know is that it is now a lamp error or a door switch error. This does not sound like a symptom with a consumer replaceable part.
