Question and Answers

Q:

Why is the belt slipping on my ProForm XP 561 treadmill?

A:

Check the tension on the belt. Midway between the front and rear rollers, you should be able to lift the belt up about 2 to 3 inches on each side. If the belt is too tight, it will need to be evenly loosened.

If the belt is tightened properly then you may need to lubricate the walking belt. You can order a tube of lubricant from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for the lubricant is 219168.

Check your owner's manual for other tips and information. I did not find information in our system for a Proform XP 561 or 631. You may need to check that model number again.

Many treadmills have a weight limit of 250 lbs. As you approach that limit, the belt may begin to slip if it is not adjusted properly.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
