Q:

Why is my freezer very cold but my refrigerator won't cool below 52 degrees?

A:

Make sure that the air vent from the freezer in the top of the refrigerator is not blocked.

This problem could be caused by a failure in the automatic defrost system problem. You may see excessive frost or ice on the inside back panel of the freezer. If you were to unplug the refrigerator and pull off the back wall, you would probably find an accumulation of ice and frost at the bottom of the evaporator. If you are able to manually defrost this area, it is likely that you can recover normal cooling in the refrigerator. If the cause of the defrost problem is not corrected, the frost will build back up eventually to cause the same problem.

This failure could be caused by a failed defrost timer, a bad defrost bimetal thermostat or a failed defrost heater. A wiring failure could also cause this problem. I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair this type of problem.

Q:

How do I adjust the screen on my Zenith 52 in. LCD TV?

A:

A LCD TV does not have a beam it has to deflect to fill a screen, so there’s usually no vertical position needed to be adjusted from the factory. I recommend you look for a picture button or aspect or screen. Make sure that the TV is not zoomed in. It’s a feature that is common on large screen HDTVs. If that is ok, then check the source you are using. I know that on my cable box made by Scientific Atlantic, if you hit the pound sign on the number pad it will cycle through zoom also. If this did not address your problem specifically, I could use the model of the TV, the model of what you are using to watch TV, and the symptom in greater detail.

Q:

Power supply for RCA 52 inch TV.

A:

The service information on this model would be under a PTK195 manual with the variations per specific model. Troubleshooting is done step by step to find the loss of a supply or defective circuit. The chassis was designed to be component repair only so there is no part number for the power/deflection board. If you do find a "power supply" it is most likely a convergence power board. This TV is not meant to be worked on by the consumer. I would contact a technician or repair shop to troubleshoot this chassis since the information is available to servicers.
