A:

According to the item number on your receipt, that range was a Whirlpool model RF263LXTT. I provided a product description of that range in the image below. I don't have the information on your serial number. That serial number may be recorded in our Sears information system. You can call 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME) and talk to an agent to see if that serial number is available in our system.

Q:

Having trouble installing a new water filtration cartridge for my refrigerator.

A:

According to your description, it sounds like you have a problem with the filter housing. See if the filter can be inserted with that plastic grill removed from the front of the refrigerator. If that does not help, I recommend that you pull the filter out and check for a foreign object stuck in the back of that filter housing. You will need to use a flashlight and probably lay down on the floor to see into the filter housing. If you find not apparent problems, I recommend that you replace that filter housing. NOTE: You can also leave the filter out and the refrigerator will still continue to make ice even though the water will not be filtered. The housing has an automatic bypass so it will not leak even with the filter removed.

If you want to replace that filter housing, you can order a new one from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for that housing is 2225521. Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before replacing that part. You should be able to remove the existing filter housing from the front of the refrigerator. Remove the bottom front plastic grill. Remove the screws that secure the housing in the base of the refrigerator. You should have enough slack in the water lines to pull that housing out and remove the tubes connected at the back of it. They should be connected with John Guest fittings. Push down on the collar of that fitting and the water line should pull straight out. Push the water line into the fitting on the new housing and then tug back on it slightly to make sure that it is seated properly. Reassemble the refrigerator and check for leaks.

This information should help you resolve this filter problem. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

NOTE: The hole that I see in that cap should not affect the performance of the filter or the installation process once the housing is replaced.
