Question and Answers

Q:

Pro-Form XP 542 E TREADMILL

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with treadmill. I will be happy to assist you. First, unplug the treadmill from the wall. Then remove the motor hood and check all the electrical connections. If they look ok, plug the unit back in and see if it lights up. If it does not light up you will need a voltmeter to determine the problem. If you have a meter and feel confident checking life voltage, follow the diagnostic chart in the image below. Just click on the image to enlarge it. Once you determine the fail you can order the parts from the following link. Craftsman tractor parts
I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Q:

ProForm XP 542 E belt is not working.

A:

Thank you for your question.

If the motor makes noise when you increase the speed I suspect there is a problem with the belt. I recommend unplugging the treadmill first. Then remove the cover over the motor. Once it is removed, plug the treadmill in, and carefully start it. Watch the motor to see if it is turning. If it is turning, look at the front roller. If the roller is turning, the walking belt needs to be adjusted. The instructions for adjusting the walking belt are posted below.

If the roller is not turning, the motor belt has to be tightened. Next, locate and loosen the motor mounting bolts. Then move the motor so that the belt is tight and have someone retighten the mounting bolts. It will take quite a bit of force to hold the belt tight. After the belt is tight plug the treadmill in and carefully test the operation. If the belt still slips, watch the front roller. If the roller stops but the pulley does not the roller is defective. If the roller and the pulley stop, the drive belt is still loose.

Please feel free to reply below with more details if you need further assistance.

Q:

What is the new code for older Sears paint number 542 (light blue)?

A:

We don't have a way to cross reference number 542 with the new numbers.

If you can take something that is painted with 542 paint into a retail store the associates in the paint department can match it for you.
