Question and Answers

Q:

Why does my garage door only go up 2 feet when it is 40 degrees or less?

A:

It is difficult to help you with technical information without the full model number of your garage door opener. Although you do not detect that the door is binding when testing it, the force needed for the opener to raise the door when the temperature is below 40 degrees may exceed the force setting on the motor unit. It is likely that you will need to increase the "up" force as described in the image below. This procedure is for a common Craftsman garage door opener. If you have a different model or need more help, resubmit your question with additional details and the full model number of your garage door opener.

Q:

My craftsman air compressor model 919.165010 won't pump over 40 psi. When it gets to 40 the motor labors and and barely runs. It has 2 capacitors.

A:

Thank you for your question.

  • This sounds like a typical check valve issue.

  • The check valve open and closes with each piston pump delivery of air to the tank. If the check valve is not closing with each stroke it will cause back pressure when the pump and tank pressure become equal it will cause the motor to labor and stall.

  • I would suggest you replace the tank Check valve.

Q:

temperature of single burner on range at settings of 2 and 5

A:

Aashe is correct that the owner's manual shows information about the burner settings on page 11. The exact temperatures of the burner are not a specification that is provided by the manufacturer for the surface burners. That information on page 11 should help you when using the surface burners. The setting of 2 will normally heat the surface to just over 220 degrees. The setting of 5 will probably heat the surface to around 300 degrees. These are just ballpark estimates but they may be what you are looking for. If you need more help, reply with additional details.
