536881400 Craftsman Snow Thrower 536881400

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the snow blower. I will be happy to assist you. I posted an image below that contains the instructions for replacing the belt. Click on the image to enlarge it. Make sure there are not any rocks, sticks, or other foreign objects stuck in the area of the belts and pulleys. Look for any areas of wear that may have produced sharp areas where the belts may contact them. Check the pulleys for wear or bent places on a pulley. Check the bearings in the pulleys, if a bearing is seizing, it will throw the belt off or break it. An impact, bounce, or shifts to the pulleys, caused by uneven distribution of loads will hyperextend the belts maximum strength design. The pulleys may be out of alignment to begin with and abrupt changes in implement angle can stress belts. It takes very little weld misalignment in height, lateral travel or angle to create constant stress during loads on the belt. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance on the snow blower.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Q:

replacing control cable 536881400

A:

Thank you for your question. I will be happy to assist you. To replace the cable disconnect the cable from the engagement lever first. Then tip the snow blower onto its nose so you can access the underside of the blower. Now that you can see where the cable connects just unhook the cable end from the idler. To remove the cable from the frame the tensioner has to be removed. Once it is removed you can pull the cable from the frame. Next remove the bushing from the tensioner. Finally remove the cable from the bushing. Now install the new cable in the reverse order. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance. Thank you Mark.

Q:

Replacing the control cable 536881400 Craftsman Snow thrower

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern with your snow blower. The augur control cable will connect to the small hole located below where the spring is attached to the idler arm as shown on page 20 figure 18 in the Owner's Manual. You will need to remove the belt cover to access the idler arm assembly. Figure 18 shows the spring attached to the idler arm and there should be small hole below where the spring attaches and this would be where augur cable will attach.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
