Question and Answers

Q:

scroll say will not run over 5 years old ran for probably 20 mins. previously

A:

Thank you for your question on the scroll saw not running longer than 20 minutes.

Please make sure that you have lubricated the pivot pins on the arms and any location in the drive system that moves.

Please make sure any saw dust is not blocking cooling for the motor.

The original lubricant may have dried out and will need refreshing.

You may remove the motor drive cover and turn the unit by hand to see if you can detect any drag or resistance that would cause the watch dog circuit in the motor controller to trip and shut down the saw.

Please let me know what you find out.

Q:

problems with a horiz 5 hp 20 gal compressor not listed

A:

Herb, I will be happy to assist you. I looked up the model number you submitted. It came up for me. If the motor only hums when you turn on the switch, I recommend unplugging the unit from the wall. Then remove the belt cover so you can access the pulleys. Once you have access to the pulleys try to turn the large pulley. This will ensure the unit is not seized. If the pulley does turn, remove the cover on the pressure switch. Then check the wire connections to ensure they are tight. If they are tight, reinstall the pressure switch cover and the belt cover. Then plug the unit into the wall outlet and check the operation. If it still only hums, I suspect the motor is the problem. If you have a digital voltmeter, I will be happy to assist you verifying it. Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark

Q:

Craftsman lawn tractor starts to run rough after 20 mins and then stalls. It will not restart until it cools down. Tractor is about 5 yrs old. Any ideas?

A:

Without the specific model number I can only give you general information. I believe that your problem may be a plugged gas cap vent or vapor lock. To check the cap run the tractor until it starts to run rough then loosen the cap, do not remove it, if the engine smooths out the vent is most likely plugged and should be cleaned or the cap replaced. If the problem persists the try moving the fuel line away from the engine block.

Any parts you may need should be available at Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this helps.

If I can be of further assistance please feel free to submit any questions you have along with the specifics.

Thanks for using Manage My Life.
