Q:

What is error code 82 on a craftsman garden tractor

A:

Thank you for your question on the hour meter reading 82000 hours on the tractor.

There is no error code function on the hour meter. Is it possible that the key got left on because it will clock hours if the key is on.

I believe it will need to be replaced because I know of no way to rest it. Please let me know if the key was accidentally let on.

If not then could it be that it got too hot and failed from the sun?

If that is not the case then it just failed.

Hour meter .

Please let me know what you found out.

Thank you for the update on the hour meter. Yes that is possible if the key was not let on. I do not think it is worth the cost to replace it unless it means that much to you to have it. The new would start 0 so it would not reflect the correct hours the tractor has on it anyway. Sam A.

Q:

need a belt for my tractor 42" part #140294,every one is saying this is a 82" belt but my old one measures 81 and a 1/4,a 82 wont work, tractor is 16 years old

A:

Thank you for your question on the length of the drive belt for your tractor.

The Sears belt is 82 1/4 inches long.

The AYP belt below is 81.9 inches long. This is the shortest belt I can find for the 140294 part number.

I have found a few belts on line and this one is 81.9 which are very close to 82 inches for the part number 140294. Drive belt .

Some I have seen on line that are as long as 82 1/4 inches for the replacement belt 140294.

Thank you for the update. The proper way to measure the belt is the measure it half way on the pitch between the narrowest width and the widest width on the belt. Since that is not very easy to do then I would order the belt part number for your tractor and it should be correct. If the belt you took off the tractor is 81 1/4 inches and all the replacements are + or - 82 inches it should work fine. If there was a problem then there would be a lot of information about that part number not being correct on the site. Have you tried a new belt and it did not fit right? Click on the blue link in the last thread for drive belt. This is the OEM manufactures belt for your model and part number tractor. Sam A.
