Question and Answers

Q:

Craftsman gas edger 475 series model 536.772321. How to remove roll pin holding spring on quill assembly

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the edger. I know it can be difficult to remove the spring pins. I recommend spraying the pin with WD-40 first. Then find a drift punch that will fit into hole for the spring pin. Place the drift punch on top of the roll pin and drive it out by hitting the punch with a hammer. Be careful not to hit it too hard when the pin is almost out. You do not want to lose the pin. Once the pin is removed, you can install it into the new shaft. While holding the pin against the hole, tap it in with the hammer.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Mange my life.

Q:

Why does my Kenmore oven burner cycle very rapidly after preheating?

A:

The theory of operation for the glow bar ignition system for your range is shown in the image below. (NOTE: This information is intended for technicians. You should only use this information if you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely use it.) If the igniter is glowing constantly when the burner is cycling rapidly then your likely failure is in the igniter. You may have a weak igniter that is not drawing enough current (at least 2.9 amps) through the circuit due to high resistance then the gas valve may not be opening properly. A technician will normally pull the bottom panel and flame spreader in the oven and observe the burner in operation to check this issue. The amp draw in the circuit may need to be measured with a clamp-on ammeter if the igniter is glowing constantly but the burner is cycling off and on rapidly.

If the glow bar is cycling off even though the set temperature is not met then you could have a bad temperature sensor or a failed electronic oven control board. You can unplug the range and check the resistance through the sensor circuit with a volt/ohm meter using the technical information provided below. If the sensor is okay then the electronic oven control board will likely need to be replaced to fix this problem.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. Use your full model number (362.75321 . . .) to access the correct list and order the right parts for your model of Kenmore range.

This information should help you determine the cause of your oven failure. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Q:

My lawnmower is smoking and the oil is not too full. What else should I check?

A:

I am afraid the problem with your mower is going to be a serious problem with the engine. The mower has a 2 year warranty. I recommend taking the mower to a Sears Parts and Service Center or a Sears Retail Store for repair.
