Q:

How to replace inlet valve for washing machine?

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Replacing the water inlet valve is a pretty easy procedure. You will need to disconnect the power cord and turn off the hot and cold water supply to the washer. Remove the hot and cold fill hoses and then remove the main top. See image below. Disconnect the hose from and wires from the water inlet valve and the screws securing the inlet valve to the rear panel and remove the valve. Reverse the procedure to install the new valve. I added an image below to reference. I also recommend flushing the hot and cold water lines by placing the ends of the fill hoses in an empty bucket and turn the hot and cold water supply valves on and flush the lines out before connecting the fill hoses to the new water inlet valve.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Debbie: I must assume you have a front loading washer as noted in my first response. The washer has a drain hose that should be connected to a stand pipe. The drain hose should simply lift up out of the stand pipe. Yes, you will need to slide the washer out in order to remove the top. If the drain hose it too short to pull the washer out enough to lift the drain hose from the stand pipe, you may have to pull the dryer out to access the drain hose and stand pipe.
