Q:

Where is the air filter on a Husquavarna Lawn tractor model GTH 2448T

A:

The owner's manual refers you to the engine operating manual regarding the cleaning of the air filter. I provided the information from the operating manual for the Briggs and Stratton engine model 445677-0476-E1 in the image below. This engine will have one of the filters shown in the image below. This should help you change the air filter. You can view a parts list diagram for this engine by keying in the model number (445677-0476-E1) into the model number search field on the Sears PartsDirect website. The fuel filter will be in the fuel line between the tank and the carburetor. Page 16 of your owner's manual shows how to change the fuel filter. Here is a link for your owner's manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual .

The air cleaner is part number 499486S and the fuel filter is part number 691035.

Q:

Lawn tractor will not run

A:

Thank you for your question.

Your Tractor uses an Operator Presence (seat) switch that will cause engine to stall if blades are engaged or the brake is released without anyone on the seat. If ample amount of weight is not kept on the seat during operation or the operator is leaning forward the tractor will stall because the Operator Presence (seat) switch senses that the operator is not completely on the seat.

To check Operator Presence (seat) switch:

  1. Lift seat.
  2. Locate wires that connect to Operator Presence (seat) switch under the seat.
  3. Disconnect and clean any debris in the switch connector. Use an ohmmeter to check the switch. When the switch is not pushed, the reading should be 0 ohms (closed). When pushed it should read ol ( open load )
  4. Make sure the connector is fully seated on the seat switch. The connector is a special connector that will short the two wires if it is not fully seated.

I hope this is helpful.

mesquite, Due to the fact, the seat switch is a safety switch I can not advise how to defeat it. I would feel responsible, if a bypassed seat switch hurt someone. You will need a meter to verify if the seat switch or connector is defective. If you have a meter, I will be happy to assist in the repair. Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark T.

Q:

Engine replacement

A:

Thank you for your question.

Without the model number of the tractor, I am not sure where to connect the wires from the engine. The red wire from the engine is the charging wire. The gray wire should be the 12-volt supply to the solenoid on the carburetor. The black wire should be the kill wire. You want to follow the black wire. If it is the kill wire, it should be connected to the ignition coil. If the black wire connects to the bottom of the carburetor, it is a ground.

If you could reply below with the tractor model number, I will look up the wiring diagram. Once I have that I can tell you where to connect the wires.

A:

Ron,

Thank you for adding the model of the tractor. Over the years, we have sold a few different models of the YS4500. These models had different engines and wiring harnesses. What I really need is the model number under the seat of the tractor. Once I have that, I can tell you what wires should be connected where.

I hope to hear from you.

Mark

A:

Ron,

Thank you for adding the model number. The wire on the A1 terminal on the ignition switch should be connected to the gray and red wire from the engine. The orange wire for the lights should also be connected to the A1 wire. The black wire from the engine should connected to the black/white wire from the tractor harness. This should be all the wires.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Ron,
I looked up the part number for a muffler that has a single cylinder engine. The part number for the muffler is 137352 and can be ordered from the link below. To reduce the chances of back firing, turn the engine off at full throttle. This is what the manufacturer recommends.

Please let me now if you need further assistance.
