Question and Answers

Q:

Dryer 500 kenmore 2008 (lot# 430) NO Lint on filter

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Having the model number of your dryer would be helpful.

Based on your details you are describing a venting issue. The lint you found trapped outside at the vent hood was restricting the air flow through the dryer drum and filter. A restricted venting system will also cause your dryer to take longer to dry a load of clothes as well.

Note: Sheets do not normally loose a lot of lint while drying and it's not unusual for the lint filter to trap very little lint when drying sheets.

For testing purposes only: Disconnect the vent hose from the back of the dryer and then dry one normal load of clothes. If the clothes dry in a normal amount of time and the lint filter is trapping more lint then this test would confirm the venting system is restrictive or clogged causing the long dry times and would explain why very little lint is being trapped by the lint filter.

Make sure the vent hose is not kinked or pinched also.

Q:

Is auger propelled the same/comparable to self propelled?

A:

Thank you for your question. I will be happy to assist you. In my opinion, the self-propelled unit is better than the auger propelled unit. The rubber portion of the auger on the single stage unit is what propels the unit. Once the rubber wears down, it does not propel as well as they do when new. If the surface of your drive is rough, it will wear the rubber faster. If the drive is smooth, the auger will last longer. The self-propelled unit will propel the same on any surface. You can also set the height of the scrapper to work with all drive types.  I think you know the other benefits of the self-propelled unit.  If you have any other questions on these two units, please reply below. I will be happy to assist you. Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark T.
