Q:

Why does my HE front load washer stop and give me the message 2 F?

A:

The F2 error code indicates that the washer is taking too long to drain the water. This can be caused by excessive suds, a clogged drain, a restricted or kinked drain hose or a problem with the drain pump.

Check for excessive suds in the washer. If you see this problem, take these steps for resolve your oversudsing issue:

  • Only use HE (High Efficiency) detergent in the washer.
  • Use the appropriate quantity of soap. If you have a water softener, you may only need a tablespoon of HE detergent. Use less soap to avoid excessive suds.
  • Let the suds dissipate and then run a drain/spin cycle to drain the washer.

If you do not see excessive suds in the washer, check your drain and the drain hose for clogs. Make sure that the drain hose is not stuck way down the stand pipe. This could cause drain water to siphon back into the washer.

If the above tips don't help, you could have clog in the drain pump. Drain the washer of as much water as possible. Unplug the washer and follow the steps in this previous answer to access and check the large item filter on the pump of your washer: Why am I getting the error message F02 on my Kenmore HE3 washer even after cleaning the drain and hose in the back of the washer?

Q:

How do you remove an oil drain valve Sears part #428287 from a B&S lawn tractor engine?

A:

Our technicians say a 15/16 deep socket is no quite deep enough to reach the shoulders on the drain valve. They use a 15/16 open end wrench and say you can catch enough of the shoulder to start the drain valve out.

If you can't get it loose with a 15/16 open end wrench, schedule service and let a Sears technician remove the drain valve for you.

Q:

washer keeps flashing code F 02. Whats wrong?

A:

The "F02" fault code will display if the drain time exceeds 8 minutes. The "Sud" error will display first and then "F02" if it's not able to drain water or if it takes too long to drain all the water. Using too much detergent or using the wrong kind of detergent will cause "Sud" and "F02" fault codes. If you’re not using too much detergent or the wrong type of detergent the likely failure is the water level pressure switch unless the drain pump filter is full of debris. I recommend disconnecting the power cord from the power source before removing the lower access panel. Once the lower access panel has been removed you will have access to the drain pump filter cap. Note: Be sure all the water has been drained before removing the drain filter cap. Have an old towel handy for when you remove the filter cap there will be some residual water pouring out.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
