Question and Answers

Q:

My Kenmore dryer model 41783142300 has stopped heating.

A:

Thank you for your question. I understand your concern and confusion. The Fuse or Fuses the User's guide is referring too is the house circuit breakers or fuses located in the house circuit breaker/fuse box. There should be two house circuit breakers dedicated for the dryer. Locate the two house circuit breakers dedicated for the dryer and reset both circuit breakers by flipping both circuit breakers OFF and back ON 2-3 times and then start the dryer and see if heats. If the dryer continues to run and not heat then the voltage supply should be checked and confirmed. The dryer requires 220 volts in order to heat.

If the dryer is supplied with the 220 volts then the likely failure could be one of the following:

  • Timer (key#1)
  • Burnt wire connection
  • Control thermostat (key#15)
  • High limit thermostat (key#33)
  • Heating element (key#16)
  • Motor centrifugal switch (part of motor key #28)

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dryer if resetting the house circuit breakers does not get your dryer heating.

Q:

change lightbulb dryer

A:

I have provided you with the illustrated instructions for removing the lens in your dryer below. Make sure unplug the dryer before you attempt to replace the bulb. I have checked the dryer we have here and you just have to push up and pull out on the lens to remove it. I did find it a little tricky to reinstall the cover because it is hard to see. Make sure to hook the top in first and the snap the bottom in.
