Question and Answers

Q:

How to access dryer to replace heating elements 41764182300 Kenmore Electric dryer

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

There should be a couple of spring clips located between the top and the control panel near each corner. Use a putty knife and slip in front of the clip and push inwards and lift the top corner up a little and then repeat procedure for the other side. Once the top is hinged open, remove each screw securing the front panel to each side panel. I added a couple of images below to reference. NOTE: Disconnect the dryer from the power source before servicing.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

If I lubricate the drum bearing on my Kenmore dryer will it quit squeaking?

A:

Based on your details it sounds like the drum support is already rubbing the bearing support bracket. If the drum support/ball has dropped due to the drum support bearing being worn down and is rubbing the metal bearing support bracket the lubricant will NOT stop it from squeaking and you will need to replace the drum bearing. The drum bearing kit is part #5303281153.

If the bearing hasn't worn down to the point the drum support/ball has dropped and is rubbing or resting on the bearing support bracket then the lubricant should stop the squeaking.

You will need to lift the drum up and out of the bearing and see if shows any signs of metal to metal rubbing.
