Question and Answers

Q:

can i change the vibration/shock absorbers from the front service panel?

A:

Thank you for your question.

I should be able to help you with replacing shock on the washer. I have included a set of illustrated instructions (See below). These should step you through the process of replacing the shocks. The instructions say to remove the rear access panel but I have replaced the shocks without removing the rear cover but it can be difficult. If you run into problems doing the repair from the front, I recommend removing the rear panel. Please make sure you unplug the washer before you remove any of the access panels. Some of the wires are live with the washer plugged in but not turned on.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on the repair of the washer.

Thank you for your reply. If the springs are not broken I would try the washer with new shocks first. The reason I say this is the springs should withstand the weight if the tub without the shocks. Therefore no damage should have been done. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Q:

My Kenmore Front Load Washer 41744042400 has stopped spinning.

A:

Hi Tiera,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

In the first link Barbara gave you above, Lyle gives the initial troubleshooting that will need to be performed.

The warranty is transferable, so long as the model and serial tag is intact and legible. The serial number has the manufacture date imbedded in it. The motor has a Limited Two Year Warranty - Motor, Driven Pulley or Motor Controller. For the second year from the date of purchase, Sears will replace the motor, driven pulley or motor controller if they are defective in material or workmanship. You must pay the labor cost to have them installed.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Why won't my front load washer pump the water out?

A:

You did not indicate if your hear the drain pump running or not. To gain access to the drain pump (key#35) and coin trap (key#41) the lower toe panel (key# 18 in the second image) is removable. There will be 2 or more 1/4 inch hex head screws along the bottom of the toe panel to remove. Pull the toe panel down and out to remove it after taking the screws out. NOTE: Disconnect power or unplug the washer before removing the toe panel.

There could be several possible causes for not draining water:

  • Blockage in the drain pump coin trap (key#41 in the first image)
  • Drain pump motor
  • Timer
  • Loose wiring connection
  • Kinked or restricted drain hose
  • Jammed drain pump motor

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer.
