Question and Answers

Q:

Washer 41743142200 41743142200 Kenmore Washer

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your model washer, I see it has a mechanical timer. I do not believe Kenmore has any front load models with a mechanical timer. All the new ones uses an electronic machine control board.

The washer capacity of your model washer is rated at 3.1 Cu. Ft.

I addded link to Sears.com where you can shop and compare models.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

Regarding banging noise from my Front Load Kenmore model #41743142200

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. Based on your symptom and details, the drum bearing is worn causing too much play in the spin basket shaft or one of the spin basket supports has broken connecting the spin shaft to the basket.

The failure could also be a broken shock or broken shock support. Disconnect the power cord from the power source and then remove the lower access panel and inspect the suspension shocks and where they connect to the bottom of the tub and at the base.

Open the door, and push upwards at the front of the spin basket and make note of the up and down play and then rotate the basket 1/4 of a turn and push upwards again and repeat doing this until you have made complete revolution. If you find a lot of up and down play, the basket will need to be replaced. Also, check end play by pushing backwards and pulling forwards on the basket. If there appears to be some in and out play, the drum bearing is likely worn and the rear tub will have to be replaced.

Replacing the rear tub and spin basket involves a lot of tear down and labor. Now, the spin basket has a limited lifetime warranty if it's defective in material or workmanship. The basket would be covered under warranty but you would be responsible for the service fee. The Service fee is approximately $130.00. The rear tub with bearing only has a one year warranty and you would be responsible for the cost of the tub.

I recommend calling Sears and scheduling an appointment to have your washer repaired. You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
