Question and Answers

How do I stack the 41742142100 washer

I see that Barbara H already supplied you with the procedure for stacking the dryer on the top of this washer. I included the same images below. Here is a little more information that may be helpful:

You will need a stacking kit to mount the dryer to the top of the washer. If your dryer was purchased at the same time as the washer, you will need stacking kit part 5303937141. You can order this kit from the Sears PartsDirect website. If your dryer is older (pre 1996), then you will need stacking kit 131628800. That kit has slightly different brackets.

Loud Clunking During Spin Cyles Model 41742142100

Based on your symptom and details your washer could have one of the following issues causing the clunking noise while spinning:

  1. Broken spinner support
  2. A worn out tub bearing
  3. It could have a broken shock absorber
  4. The washer may need leveling so that all four leveling legs are firmly touching the floor.

In order to check and confirm if it has a broken spinner support open the door and push upwards at the front and top of the spin basket and check for any upward and down play. Rotate the spin basket about 1/4 of a revolution and push up, rotate another 1/4 turn and push up, keep repeating until you have made a complete revolution. If any up and down play is detected then the spin basket will need to replaced and possibly the rear tub with bearing.

If play in the spin basket is detected then I recommend calling a service technician to remove and replace the spin basket and to check the tub bearing. If the tub bearing is worn then the rear tub will have to be removed and replaced. The spin basket has a limited lifetime warranty but you must pay the labor. The rear tub with bearing has a one year warranty. The service fee is approximately $130.00 which includes labor but not the rear tub assembly.

I recommend calling Sears at 1-800-4MY-HOME or 1-800-469-4663 to set up a service appointment.

how can I replace spring kenmore washer 41742142100

Thank you for your question.

I see that Maira E has given you a link to a previous answered question. In the details of your question, you did not specify what spring you need to install. I assume you need the instruction for installing the tub support spring. To install the spring first unplug the washer and remove the top of the washer. I have provided you with an image below showing how to remove the top. Then locate the broken spring and unhook it from the tub. Next, remove the two screws for the strap that holds the spring in the frame. Then you are going to have a helper lift the tub while you hook the spring onto the frame. I hook a piece of rope onto the spring to help lift the tub up. Once the spring is in place, reassemble the washer and test the operation.

If you have any other questions, please reply below with more details and I will get right back to you.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
