Question and Answers

Q:

please provide instructions on how to replace the door handle on a microwave. The plastic piece that encases the screw that attaches to the door cracked.

A:

Thank you for your question.  Replacing a door handle on most appliances is no big deal but a microwave is not the usual appliance. Replacing the door handle is a repair that should only be completed by a service technician. Disassembling the door would involve removing the microwave shielding components. A technician will need to remove these parts, replace the handle, and then reassemble the door. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed on the door using proper testing equipment before the microwave can be safely returned to service.

I recommend calling a service technician to install the door handle. You can have it repaired at your home by a  Sears technician.  Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services
