Question and Answers

Q:

How do I remove aluminum foil that has melted on the floor of a self-cleaning electric oven?

A:

The foil in the bottom of the oven will not harm the appliance. I recommend carefully scraping as much of it out as possible with a Teflon scraper. Once you remove as much as possible, you may be able to scrub some more off using a kitchen cleanser called Bar Keepers Friend. This mild abrasive powder cleaner may help remove some more of the foil without harming the finish inside the oven. Self cleaning will not remove the foil. If anything, this high temperature cleaning process will fuse the foil even better to the oven bottom. I recommend getting as much of the foil up before self cleaning the range as possible. Although it may look unattractive, the foil will not affect the performance of the range significantly. You can continue to use the range normally.

Q:

Why is my dryer not drying clothes?

A:

Without knowing the model number of your dryer and additional details I will not be able to provide any model specific troubleshooting or repair assistance. If the dryer is heating but not drying could indicate a broken belt or restriction/blockage in the vent hose. If the dryer is electric and it's not heating could mean it has failed heating element, or one of the two dedicated house circuit breakers have tripped. If it's an electric dryer, reset both circuit breaker inside the house breaker box and then see if it will heat. If it's a gas dryer it could have a failed glow bar ignitor. It could have one of many possible failures preventing your dryer from heating/drying.

Resubmit your question with the model number and additional details for model specific troubleshooting assistance.
