Q:

SEARS STOVE AND SELF CLEANING OVEN

A:

It sounds like you are describing the oven vent outlet on the top of the range. That oven vent will normally develop some browning due to smoke from the oven being vented out during the baking process or a self clean cycle. There is not really any practical way to clean that area effectively. It will normally develop the brown stains as soon as the oven is used again even if you do clean that area. If that is what you are describing, I recommend that you clean the top of that area and any accessible regions with a damp cloth. I don't recommend that you allow any water or cleaning solution to drip down that vent.

If you have brown stains on the inside glass of that oven door, then that will be a difficult area to clean. A service technician will often need to pull that door apart and clean that area (at least the first time). I provided a parts diagram for that oven door in the first image below. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th images show the basic procedure for accessing internal components of that oven door. If you are confident that you can pull the oven door off and access that inner glass, then you may be able to use that information to complete that task. NOTE: That oven door is heavy. You may need 2 people to safely pull that oven door off of the oven and place it on a padded surface for service. You may want to have a service technician perform that task the first time and observe the process before attempting it yourself. Going forward, you can try to minimize deposits on the vent components and the oven door by wiping out any large spills or deposits in the oven cavity before running the self clean cycle. Page 19 of your owner's manual describes that process. Here is a link for the owner's manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual .

If hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.
