Question and Answers

Q:

why is my sewing machine sewing backwards

A:

Thank you for your question on the feed stepper motor only letting the sewing machine sew in reverse.

The mostly likely cause of the problem is a stuck feed stepper motor.

This feed stepper motor is no longer available for replacement so I would suggest laying the machine on its back and removing the bottom panel.

In the area of the free arm of the machine is the round feed stepper motor.

It will have linkage connected to the feed dogs that move the material forward and backwards.

I would suggest spraying a lubricant on the shaft coming out of the feed stepper motor and working the lubricant into the shaft to see if you can free up the stepper motor. Move the stepper lever back and forth with you fingers to work the lubricant in, and loosen the drive shaft.

For referrence I have included an image of the location of the feed stepper motor below.

I hope this will work for you since the part is not longer available.

Sam A.

Reb, Thank you for adding the image. It makes it easier to assist you. It looks like the rod connects to the shaft with the groove around it. Then it is secured with an E clip. If you could reply below with the model number I will be happy to look it up to be sure. Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark.
