Question and Answers

Why won't my Kenmore dishwasher fill with water properly?

Make sure that the water supply cut-off valve is opened properly. Lack of water supply due to a shut valve or a water line clog could prevent the dishwasher from filling.

There is a float switch in the left front bottom of the dishwasher tub (Key 305 in the image below). Make sure that this float is not stuck in the "up" position. This would prevent the dishwasher from filling.

You could have a failed inlet water solenoid valve, a wiring failure or a bad timer that could also prevent the dishwasher from filling. A technician is normally needed to diagnose and repair this type of failure.

If the dishwasher will not start (as opposed to not filling), then you could have an electrical supply problem or a door switch failure.

If you need more help with this dishwasher problem, resubmit your question with additional details.
