Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't the burners on my Kenmore range model 36275491990 light properly?

A:

Since the oven burners are working properly, your electronic oven control (brain) part number WB11K10012R is okay. It does not control the sparking and ignition of the burners. The burners have a separate spark module (part number WB13K25) that provides the spark for ignition of the top burners. Since the burners light properly with a match, your failure is likely in this component or the wiring harness connection between the burner switches and the spark module. If you do not hear the ticking of the spark module when any of the burner switches are turned on, then I recommend unplugging the range, shutting off the gas supply and accessing the spark module as described in the first image below. The wiring diagram is shown for this portion of the range. Check the wiring connections on the spark module. If you do not find any loose wiring connections, then you will likely need to replace the spark module to correct this problem. You can order a new module from the Sears PartsDirect website. As noted above, the part number for the spark module is WB13K25.

If you replace the spark module and still have problems, then you could have a wire harness problem if the burners are not sparking. If the burners are sparking but not lighting, then you could have clogged ports in the burner heads.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Q:

on my kenmore range model 36275491990 the top burners and broiler will ignite but the oven burner will glow but will not come on.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the bake igniter is glowing red but the bake burner never ignites is a good sign that the bake igniter is too weak to pull enough current/amperage to allow the safety gas valve from opening.

Replace the bake igniter part #WB13K21 and your bake burner will most likely ignite and operate normally. The bake igniter can be ordered from Sears PartsDirect

I added an image below with the theory of operation and how to access the bake igniter.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
