Question and Answers

Q:

why is my kenmore oven range not coming on?

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

You did not clarify but I assume you the oven is not heating. In order for the oven to operate; the oven thermostat must close a set of contacts in order to supply voltage to the glow bar igniter located on the oven burner. The igniter must glow red hot and it must pull enough current/amperage to cause the oven gas valve to open. Open the broiler drawer and turn the oven on to bake. If you find the glow bar igniter glowing red for 1 or more minutes and the bake burner doesn't ignite; the igniter is weak and will need to be replaced.

If the igniter is not glowing; it could have a broken igniter, faulty oven gas valve or a faulty oven thermostat.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
