Question and Answers

Q:

Gas range choice: Bridge burner yes or no?

A:

If you think that you will have a need for the bridge burner, then it is definitely worth it. The bridge burner is normally used for a griddle or other larger cookware. The front and the rear bridge burner will normally heat a griddle evenly so that you can have a large cooking area. The rear burner can be combined with the bridge to heat oval or larger cook ware. The images below show how the controls work on the bridge burner for a common model of Kenmore Elite 36" gas cook top.

On most cook tops, you don't loose any flexibility with the bridge burner. The front and rear burners can still be used separately without the bridge.

If you don't anticipate the need for the bridge burner, then you may want to stick with the conventional burners.

I hope that this information helps you decide on which cook top will best fit your needs. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

Q:

My oven does not go pass 250

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

In order to provide any model specific information, I will need to know the model number of your range or wall oven.

Based on your symptom, if this is a gas range, the failure could be the glow bar bake igniter. If it's an electric range, it could have a faulty electronic oven control.

So that’s what I can tell you at this point. I can give you more detailed help if you could provide me with the complete model number. The model numbers are typically located on the oven frame somewhere around the oven cavity opening or it could be on the oven frame behind the broiler or storage drawer. If you could supply me with that information I will be happy to assist you further.

Q:

Kenmore ultrasoft 250 water softner

A:

Thank you for your feed back on the water softener control plug.

I am sorry that you had gotten it reversed and that is a good comment about making the wire harness plug only going on one way.

Thank you for your comments and I am glad that you got the water softener showing water flow again.
