Question and Answers

Q:

how to change fuel filter

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The fuel filter is connected to the end of the fuel line inside the fuel tank. You will need remove the gas cap and use a pair of long needle nose pliers or a pair of hemostats to reach in and pull the end of the fuel line and filter up through the fuel tank and pull the filter off. The fuel line pushes over the nipple of the fuel filter.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

Trimmer runs without head, however when I attach head on tight, it locks and will not start. What am I doing wrong.

A:

The best way to answer your question is to look at the parts diagram of the trimmer. If you don't have a parts diagram, go to www.searspartsdirect.com and enter the model of the trimmer.

The parts diagram will show you the parts in the cutting head and the order they go in. If you are missing something, you will find it there.

Q:

weedwacker leaks

A:

The other end of the cable should be connected to the throttle on the carburetor. The end of the cable should have a connector shaped like a z that fits into the hole of the throttle plate. I have provided an image of how the cable should attach.

I the carburetor is leaking when you press the primer I would recommend check the routing of the fuel line. If you have verified the fuel line and they are properly routed I suspect the diaphragm in the carburetor has a hole. I have checked the price of the carburetor and it cost $24.04. I recommend replacing the carburetor instead of trying to repair the old one it will save a lot of frustration in the end. If you would like to order the carburetor please use this link.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link to order any parts you need. Sears Parts Direct .
