Question and Answers

Q:

32cc Gas Trimmer dies

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the trimmer. I suspect there is a problem with the fuel system. I recommend checking in the fuel tank first. When you look in the tank, you should see a fuel line with a white filter attached to the end. Then inspect the fuel line. If it is hard and brittle, it has to be replaced. Here is a video that shows how to replace the fuel line. If the fuel line is fine, I suspect the carburetor is to blame. The carburetor will have to be cleaned or replaced. Here is a video that show how to clean the carburetor. Before you remove the carburetor, make sure to note the fuel line and cable connections. This will save a lot of frustration later.

Q:

32cc Craftsman gas trimmer

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the trimmer. If the starter rope pulls out easier, I recommend checking the compression of the engine. If you do not have a compression gauge, you should be able to loan one from Auto zone. Once you have the gauge, remove the spark plug. Then screw in the hose of the gauge. Make sure it is tight so you get an accurate reading. Then pull the starter rope a few times. You should have a reading of at least 110 psi. If you do not have 110 psi, the engine has an internal problem. To fix this type of problem you need to replace the piston, ring, and cylinder. The cost to repair this problem cost more than the value of the trimmer. Before you decide to repair or replace the trimmer please click here to see the models we offer.

If the compression reading is good, please let me know. I will be happy to assist you further.
