Question and Answers

Q:

weed wacker gas line

A:

A service technician is normally needed to replace a fuel line. Improperly installing a fuel line can result in a fire.

If you are certain that you can safely replace this fuel line yourself, the procedure would be to first remove the fuel line with the fuel filter from the inside of the tank. You can normally use a coat hanger with a small hook bent into one end to fish the filter out of the tank. Remove the filter and pull the fuel line out of the opening in the tank. You can order a new fuel line from the Sears Parts Direct website. To insert the new fuel line into the tank, make sure that no fuel line residue remains in the opening where the fuel line goes into the tank and cut the end of the fuel line at an angle so that you can work it through the opening. Force it through the opening and then fish it out of the tank. Cut the angled end off and install the fuel filter. the fuel filter connects to the small line in the fuel tank. Cut the fuel line to the proper length and attach the other end to the carburetor.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .
