Question and Answers

Q:

Craftsman 32cc Model 358795160 trimmer head

A:

Thank you for your question on the tap advance head for replacing the hassle free head on the straight shaft Craftsman trimmer.

As long as the spindles match it should work fine.

Your straight shaft unit has gear box with left hand thread on the head and there should be enough pieces in the bump head kit to convert it to the bump head style.

The Craftsman and the Husqvarna trimmers are both made by the Poulan division of Husqvarna Outdoor Power.

I hope this will help.

Good Morning Terry! I agree and that is the very reason I changed mine to a bump head as well. Sam A.

Q:

fuel line installation

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry; we do not have written instructions for the routing of the fuel lines on your product. Our technicians are thought the basic routing because the routing cannot change much from year to year. If you have one large fuel line and one smaller this eliminates some chance for error. If you have 2 small fuel lines to the carburetor connect them and start the engine. Reversing the fuel lines will not prevent the engine from starting. If you have them connected backwards, the engine will start and die. Reverse them and you will be correct.

The routing of the fuel lines vary from model to model. Keep in mind that the primer bulb circulates fuel from the tank, through the carburetor, and back into the fuel tank. One line goes from the fuel tank to the carburetor. One line goes from the fuel tank to the primer bulb, from the primer bulb to the carburetor, and back to the fuel tank. The small line in the fuel tank should have the filter attached to it. I have added a sketch below of how the fuel should flow in the circuit.

I have found a video I think will be useful. Please click here to watch a video on how the fuel lines are installed and routed.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance on the repair of the trimmer.

Q:

I am trying to replace a broken pull cord on my Craftsman weed wacker model 358-795160. Can you help?

A:

You need to remove the clutch housing and clutch to get the blower housing off the engine.

To remove the clutch housing, inside the shaft in the center of the clutch housing is a Torx screw. Remove the Torx screw and the clutch housing will slide off the engine shaft. The clutch assembly is threaded on the engine shaft. Unscrew the clutch assembly by turning it to the right.
