Question and Answers

Q:

I have a model 358794944 blower that will not start. I replaced the plug and ignition module. What should the compression be?

A:

If you pull the starter rope quickly 3-4 times the compression will normally be around 70-90 psi.

Be sure to disconnect the spark plug wire and pull the starter rope 8-9 times. Remove the spark plug and see if it is wet. This will tell you if you are getting fuel to the cylinder.

Q:

i have a model#358794944 blower and it will not start. i pulled the plug it has fire,i held it to the block and a flame come out.still won't start. help!!

A:

You have verified that you are getting a spark and that there is fuel getting to the cylinder. If you are priming the engine several times it may be flooding the cylinder. Try using the strategy described on page 10 of your owner's manual for starting a flooded engine. Here is a link for your owner's manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual .

Since you have gas and fuel, the only component missing would be compression. If the strategy for starting the flooded engine does not work then the blower will likely need service by a technician. Here is a link for the Sears Service website that has drop-off locations and information on repair labor pricing: Sears Home Services .
