Question and Answers

Q:

chainsaw clutch replcement

A:

To remove the clutch on the chainsaw, remove the chain cover, bar, and chain.

Remove the retaining ring and washer and slide the clutch drum off the engine shaft. Be careful to not lose the washers and put them back in the order they were removed.

The clutch assembly is screwed onto the engine shaft and removes by turning it clockwise. To keep the engine from turning when unscrewing the clutch, remove the spark plug and fill the cylinder with new clean rope. The rope will jam the piston and stop the engine from turning.

I am sending you an image showing removal of the clutch on most models. The clutch might not be exactly like the one on your saw.
