Q:

chain saw will notturn 358351181

A:

Accessing and replacing the pistion ring and the wrist pin retainers envolves a major teardown. The piston cylinder will have to slide up and over the piston to remove the cylinder. Then you can likely remove piston ring without having to remove the wrist pin retainers and piston.

If your're replacing the piston ring and retainers, it will likely also need a new piston and cylinder because the cylinder walls are likely scored and the walls of the piston. I found a video showing the procedure on a very similar model of a Craftsman chainsaw for removing the cylinder and piston. The procedure is in 2 parts. Part 1 and part 2.

I may not be cost effective to repair the saw if it needs a new piston and cylinder.

Q:

fuel line attachments for a Craftsman model 358-351181 chain saw.

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the chainsaw. We do not have any written instructions for replacing the fuel line on chainsaws but I will try to help you. First, remove the air filter cover and the air filter. Then draw a diagram of how the fuel line is routed. I have also provided you with an image below showing the fuel line circuit. Then remove the all of the old fuel lines from the saw. When you are ready to reinstall the line cut one end so that it is tapered about an inch up. This will give you something to stick into the hole of the tank. Once in the hole reach into the tank with long forceps and grab the line and pull it through. Once you have it pulled in cut the pointed end off and install the filter. The line should be long enough so the fuel filter is on the bottom of the fuel tank. Then do the same for the return line. The only difference is the return line only has to be sticking in the tank about a half an inch.

I have found a few videos that I think might help you. Please click here to watch the first video . Then click here to watch the second video.

Q:

Putting the piston back into the cyclinder 358351181 Craftsman Chain saw

A:

You will need a ring compressor to compress the ring and then you slide the cylinder over the ring. Once the ring is inside the cylinder, remove the ring compressor. I added a video showing how to use a 2 stroke ring compressor.
