Question and Answers

I have a Craftsman Mill/Drill Model 351.211970 that I can't loosen the draw bar. Any ideas?

It can be frustrating trying to work on a tool that you do not want to damage. I did some research at manage my life on a spindle replacement. I hope the attachment below is of some help to you as you wait for your expert answer.

Thank you for your question.

I can understand your dilemma with trying to loosen the draw bar.

  • There is not a mechanical way to hold the draw bar to loosen it. The trick is to pinch and hold the drive belt so the pulley will not turn as you turn the draw bar loose.

  • When it loosens a couple of turns tap it with a mallet on the top of the draw bar to loosen the taper on the spindle below. Then you should be able to easily remove the draw bar.

  • I think the head on the draw bar is either 3/4 or 7/8.

I hope this will help with removing the draw bar.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
