Question and Answers

Q:

what size is the crank and what is it drilled and tapped to on model 331877 type 1371-B1 331877 type 1371-B1

A:

I'm not sure which crank your describing in your question. There's a main crankshaft in the engine that attaches to the flywheel on one end and the drive pulley on the other end. There's a governor cranks that attaches to the engine block and connects to the governor linkage and spring. The specific size of a replacement part is typically not provided by the manufacturer (Briggs & Stratton).

Give us some more information about the crank that you're researching and we'll try to help you out with measurements and connection information if available.

Q:

where can i find a gas cap for craftsman lawn tractor model no.917.289244 ,21hp briggs &stratton model no.331877 ?

A:

It is likely that the Sears store has a replacement gas cap that will fit your tractor in the retail part of the store instead of the Parts & Repair section. That may be why it is not listed in the parts system. If you cannot find a gas cap in the retail store that will fit your tractor, you can order part 425162 from the Sears PartsDirect website or the Parts & Repair Center at the store. If you order it at the Parts & Repair Center they also may need the division number (071) and source number (917) to properly order the correct part. This gas cap (part 425162) is listed for a similar tractor (Poulan model PB2042YT) that has the same exact gas tank (part 407489) as your Craftsman tractor.
