Q:

Pawl Removal 316795861 Craftsman Gas trimmer/brushcutter

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

To remove the pawl, remove the spark plug. Make sure the piston is in the down position. Insert one end of rope into the cylinder leaving the other end sticking out a few inches. The rope will keep the crankshaft from rotating while removing the pawl. Use a pair of channel locks and turn the pawl counter-clockwise (CCW) to remove.

Q:

Craftsman weed wacker #316795861: Nothing wrong with my new weed wacker, and I would like to keep it that way. The manual doesn't give

A:

Thank you for you question.

I should be able to help you with your question. The manufacture considers the shaft to be maintenance free. The spiral shape of the shaft will distribute the grease in the shaft. If you would like to lube it anyway, you can do it once a year. Take the shaft out of the outer shaft and apply a light coat of grease. regular wheel bearing grease will be fine. The gearbox is sealed and cannot be lubed. The best advice I can give is use a 2-cycle oil that has a fuel stabilizer included. This will reduce fuel related problems.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.
