egage shaft 316711970 Craftsman Trimmer

A:

Hello Mike. I am sorry to hear about the problems that you are having with that Craftsman Trimmer Model 316.711970.

You could have a problem with the clutch assembly, the shaft or the gearbox assembly. You can view the parts diagram (and order parts if necessary) on this page: Craftsman Trimmer Model 316.711970 Repair Parts.

I recommend that you examine the clutch first. If that clutch is bad, then it will need to be replaced. If the clutch is okay, you can examine the shaft and the coupler. If those components are okay, then you may need to replace that gearbox assembly.

Note: If the trimmer is less than 2 years old, then I recommend that you carry it into your nearest Sears Repair Center or Sears Store to have it repaired. If it is out of warranty, you can still carry it in for service. Here is a link for the Sears Service website that has information on trimmer repair: Sears Home Services Trimmer Repair
