Question and Answers

Q:

nicad batery vs ion 315114480 Craftsman 1/2" cordless drill

A:

Thank you for your question.

I will be happy to assist you. The C3 nicad battery cost $29.99 per battery. To use the Lithium-ion battery you need a new charger. We sell a kit that comes with a battery and a charger for $69.99. Just the battery cost $44.99. If you decide to go with the Lithium-ion I recommend taking the drill to your local store to be sure the battery fits your drill. The case of the Lithium-ion looks like it is missing a notch near the end. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Q:

I need help removing the chuck on my Craftsman 13mm drill model 315114480. There are threads at the end of it. Are they left or right threaded?

A:

The threads on the drill are right hand thread. To remove the chuck, remove the screw in the center of it and turn the chuck to the left to remove.

Q:

I have a model 315114480 drill that I have stripped the gears in. I need to replace them. How do I remove them?

A:

You can see a parts diagram and list at www.searspartsdirect.com that shows how the drill comes apart.

If you separate the 2 halves and remove the mechanism you can hold the shaft with some vise grip pliers and unscrew the chuck.
