Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't my Magic Chef range oven heat?

A:

Open the broiler drawer and set the oven to Bake or Broil and look up inside the broiler section and watch for a red glow. If you do not see a red glow, the likely failure is a broken ignitor however, it could have a failed oven thermostat or bake valve. The ignitor must have 110-120 vac supplied to it or it will not glow and open the gas valve. In order to diagnose the failure will require testing the igniter and gas valve for continuity. The voltage supply to the igniter should also be tested. If no voltage is present, the thermostat may have failed. The likely failure is the igniter, part# 12400035.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your gas range.
