Question and Answers

Q:

We purchased a 30" gas freestanding LG double oven which was delivered on 2/23/13.

A:

I am not aware of any problems or common issues with that model of LG double oven. You are probably correct about the noise being caused by metal contracting. Since the oven is brand new, you may consider having a service technician examine it. The technician can check for any potential problems while the oven is still under warranty.

Based on your description, I recommend that you have a service technician examine the range under the warranty. Based on that recommendation, you should not be charged for service if the technician finds that the noise is normal and nothing is wrong. Let the phone agent know that we recommended the service call and the will set up the warranty service. You should not have to worry that you will be charged anything based on my recommendation. If you need more help, let me know.

Q:

Unlock Store Demo Mode, Kenmore Elite Induction Cooktop 4382.

A:

To disable the sales demo mode, follow this procedure:

  1. Shut off the house circuit breaker for the cook top to completely disconnect electrical power. Leave the breaker off of 2 minutes.
  2. Reset the circuit breaker to restore electrical power.
  3. Within 30 seconds after powering the cook top back up, press TIMER + , TIMER - and the press and hold the ON/OFF button for 6 deliberate seconds.

It may take a try or 2 to disable that demo mode. You may need to have someone reset the breaker for you so that you can complete that key dance within 30 seconds of power up.

If you need more help, let us know.

Send me the full serial number of that cook top (reply back to this thread). I obtained the above procedure directly from the manufacturer. The serial number will help me when I contact the manufacturer again for more information.

Thanks. One other detail may help. What is the cook top doing when it is in demo mode? Does the display work but the cook top does not heat even when magnetic cookware is positioned on the burner? Let me know. Thanks.

Okay. I got some clarification. Shut off the breaker again. Leave it off for about 3 minutes to let the control boards reset. Reset the breaker to power the cook top up. Within 30 seconds after power up, press and hold all 3 of those buttons (Timer + (UP), Timer - (DOWN) and the ON/OFF button for 8 deliberate seconds. Try that and let us know if it worked. Thanks.

Sorry. I checked again. Please have patience with me as we work through this. If you used the ON/OFF then that was probably the wrong button. Press and hold the Timer +, Timer - and the TIMER SET/OFF button. Let me know if that works. I am standing by. Thanks.

Okay. Make sure that the control lock-out is not enabled. The little red light would be on above that lock icon if the control lock-out is on. Press and hold that lock icon for 3 seconds to disable that control lock-out if necessary. Shut off the breaker again for 3 minutes. The demo mode is definitely disabled by pressing and holding 3 buttons. I believe that it is the Timer +, Time - and the Timer Set/Off keys but it could be that power on off button instead of the Timer Set/Off key. There is a chance that you may need to power the unit on with the On/Off power button and then press and hold those 3 buttons (Timer +, Timer - and Timer Set/Off) for the 8 deliberate seconds. I added an image below that shows those buttons on the control according to the information that I have. I hope that this helps. Give this a try and let me know if it works.

I'll have to get with the product engineer on that. I should be able to get that information from him. I don't see the service mode on the tech sheet or the service information that I have available. I will get back with you as quick as possible. Thanks.

Q:

Why is my timer hard to turn?

A:

The washer timer knob assembly and timer will most likely need to be replaced since the alignment pin corroded off.

The timer knob (key#30) should thread ON and OFF of the threaded timer shaft. Over time and use, the timer can become hard to rotate and eventually cause the timer knob assembly to break or the alignment pin.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your washer.
