Kenmore 800 leak

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having problems with your washer. I have checked the model number you have submitted. I see there have been reports of this washer leaking. The cause of the leak is water splashing off the tub ring. To cure this you need to replace the tub ring with a new design. I do not believe this is the problem with your washer because you just noticed the leak. Most washers that had the tub ring issue leaked right away.

I have provided you with the instructions for testing the washers neutral drain function. I have also added the instructions for removing the cabinet to check for leaks. If the washer is skipping the neutral drain, the washer tries to spin the tub when it is full of water and the water will cascade over the top of the tub. When this happens, there is usually a large amount of water on the floor.

If you determine the gear case is working the way it should, I recommend removing the cabinet and looking for the leak. Make sure to unplug the washer before opening the washer for service.
