Question and Answers

Q:

what is the timing for a 14 horse briggs and stratton riding mower

A:

Thank you for the question on the timing of the Briggs and Stratton engine.

The timing is down by a combination of a fly wheel key and the air gap between the electronic armature and the fly wheel magnet.

If the fly wheel key is not sheared and the air gap between the armature and the fly wheel is at .012 then I would look to the valve adjustments if you are having trouble with the engine starting.

Please let me know what problem you are having with the engine and I will be happy to help you.

Q:

I have installed LED outdoor lighting around my house. My garage door opener will not work when the lights are on. Frequency interference?

A:

Bart,

I have seen the strangest things cause interference with openers. I tracked down a toy in the basement of one customer’s house causing a problem before. If you have pin pointed the problem down to the outside lights I suspect the problem is with the transformer. To verify that the transformer is the problem, disconnect the wires going to the lights. Then plug the transformer in and check the opener. If it will not work, unplug the transformer and check the opener again. If the opener works, I recommend replacing the transformer. Even if the transformer is working, it could be putting out interference. This could be why you only have a problem with some of the lights you install.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know what you find.

A:

Bart,

I don’t think the problem is with the type of transformer you are using. I think a few of the transformers are causing the interference. This could be caused by a slight defect in the transformer. You can also try shielding the transformer with heavy aluminum foil. Make a box out of the foil and place it over the transformer. This should shield the interference.
Please let me know what you find.

Q:

What is an E1 error?

A:

Your digital display should have shown a F1 and not an E1 error code. F1 indicates a primary control failure. Meaning the machine control board will need to be replaced. I recommend calling a service technician to repair your dryer.
