Question and Answers

Q:

craftsman model 917.272751 valve adjustment

A:

Thank you for your question. I usually set both of the valves at .005 and never had a problem. I have looked up your model and it is a 310000 series engine. The image below has all of the specifications for your engine. The intake is .003 to .005 and the exhaust is .005 to .007. Make sure to adjust the valves when the engine is cold. A warm engine will throw the settings off. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reply below.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem finding the model number of the engine. Usually it is stamped onto the valve cover or there might be a model number tag on the blower housing.

If looked up the torque specification and posted a copy below. Just click on the image to enlarge it.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on the repair.
