Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't my oven heat up higher than 260 degrees?

A:

Without knowing the model number of your range and additional details I can only provide general information. It could be a thermostat, oven temperature sensor probe, oven control board failure, burnt wire connection, weak oven ignitor or a failed bake or broil element.

I recommend resubmitting your question with the model number and additional details for model specific information.

Q:

Why won't my Kenmore range temperature exceed 260 degrees?

A:

Without knowing the model number of your range I will not be able to provide any specific information. Generally speaking, when I hear this type of symptom I must assume that it is a gas range. If the failure is not a thermostat issue, the likely cause of your symptom is a weak oven igniter. If the igniter does not pull enough current the gas valve will not open.

Resubmit your question with the model number for model specific information.

Q:

917 288 260 lawn tractor transmission slipping

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the tractor. I will be happy to assist you. A few things will cause the problem you are having. Next time the tractor acts up I recommend hooking your foot under the brake pedal and pull back. If this improves the drive, I recommend checking the clutch pivot and the return spring. The spring tightens the drive belt when the brake is released. If pulling the pedal back does not improve the drive, I recommend removing the back plate of the tractor. Four bolts secure it. Once it is removed, clean all of the dead grass from the top of the transaxle. If the cooling fins are not clean the transaxle will get hotter than normal resulting in poor drive power. If that does not help, follow the instructions posted below on checking the transaxle oil. If the oil level is fine, I suspect the transaxle is going out.

Please let me know if you need further assistance on the repair of the tractor.
