Question and Answers

Q:

My air conditioner is a Kenmore and the model number is 25371055008. Can you tell me how to add refrigerant to it?

A:

If your air conditioner is low on refrigerant it has a leak somewhere. It won't do any good to add freon without repairing the leak.

The compressor on your air conditioner should have a short piece of tubing soldered into one of the ports in the compressor. It is pinched off and soldered shut on the end.

You need an access valve to attach to this stub or to the suction line somewhere. The best practice is to install the self piercing valve on the charging stub and add the freon. When you are finished vacuuming and charging the system you should pinch off the charging stub below your valve and cut the tubing and solder the end closed.

If access valves are left on the stub they sometimes leak.

Q:

What part or parts do I need to fix my air conditioner?

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to know how the accordion are fastened to the side of the window air conditioner.

The cabinet has two retainer rails that are part of the cabinet and they have a groove that the end of the accordion slides into from the top down and it holds the accordion bellows to the cabinet while the accordion pulls out to fill the widow space.

The top and bottom rail, above and below the accordion slide into the frame of the a/c.

Do you have these retainers (#6 on image) held on the sides of the cabinet by (#18 screws) of your unit?

If not they may have been taken off for some reason. They are held on with screws to the cabinet.

Please reply if you have more questions and I will be happy to help you.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
